What is your Relationship with your Material Supplier?

Having a relationship with your material supplier may sound like an extreme notion, but it is critical when understanding if your material selection will appropriately suit its application.  It is absolutely necessary to have a full understanding of your resin because all resins are not created equal!

As with many projects, it can be difficult finding an appropriate resin/polymer to fit the exact application your project demands.  There are methods to help find resins such as on-line services and material websites, but the best method is to contact a resin supplier who specializes in the type of resin you need i.e. PP, ABS, PC, etc.

The resin supplier will provide information to a local representative who will assist you in making the appropriate selection for your project.  The representative should ask in-depth questions about your project in an effort to identify the best resin to fit the application.  This is not as simple as it seems.  The application may require UV inhibitors, blowing agents, meet FDA and medical requirements, necessitate nucleating agents, and the list goes on.  They will also be able to help in suggesting the best feed system design based on the application.

Bozilla Corporation works very closely with resin suppliers on each project to ensure the appropriate material is utilized for a project.  Upon selecting a suitable material, we can optimize the tool design, feed system design and injection molding process, which will save you money and allow you to have the highest levels of quality in your production.

We have worked on many projects where customers had an issue and could not resolve it easily.  Ultimately, it was discovered that an incorrect polymer selection was the cause of the problems when it came to both processing and part performance.

There are many cases where parts are made easily but do not perform in the field as designed.  The parts fail prematurely from excessive wear, chemical attack, crazing, breakage, and the list goes on again.

If you wish to know more about understanding the importance of having a strong relationship with your material supplier or desire to have your project reviewed, contact us at any time.
